POST--Chapter 4 of Groundswell

My thoughts about using a blog to reach out to people at my dream job are very simple. I would first invent a product or service that no one has ever thought of. I would probably invent something that would make sewing a little bit easier for people that have a hard time sewing with arthritis in their hands, for instance.

I would have people that have arthritis in their hands come try the product by inviting them by email or by putting fliers out and ads on television and the Internet to get the word out. I would visit all the sewing shops in the test area and get names, phone numbers, and emails to market to. These people would be the "test market." I then would have them give me feedback how to improve the product and by keeping a blog on the Internet just for the company to see while they are testing the product and writing their views about the product. Their feedback in return would be used to make the product easier to use and make any necessary changes that need to be made.

After a few months, the people that tested the product would have an option of keeping the product and continuing to use the product with the option to go live with a new blog and share their thoughts about the product that they tested and are continuing to use.

Now according to our reading and the definition of POST in chapter 4 of Groundswell, I would use a blog to reach out to people at my place of employment by first defining who the people are that need my product and how they will benefit from my product. A company must know who the target audience is and how this product will benefit these individuals. This stands for the P in the acronym of POST. The O stands for objectives. The objective of the product will be to make it easier for the people who have arthritis and have a hard time sewing and using their hands. The S stands for strategy. The strategy is to satisfy the customer when it comes to trying to make their lives easier with arthritis in their hands and doing it with minimal pain in their hands. This will let them sew without having pain from the arthritis in their hands. They will in return use the "T"which stands for technology in POST to brag or review about the product through the blog that they either created or started when they started using the new product. The blog reviews will be posted on the Internet for everyone to review and read when they search for the product on the web. Blogs will be written and millions will read them and this will in return get the word out about the product. The company may even read these blogs to improve the product over the years after thousands or even millions are sold and reviewed.

An example of a product that was invented for people that sew and have arthritis in their hands is pictured below. This product was designed for people that have arthritis and are used for cutting fabric.
